Hanging out in Khitai watching the field for Corrupted Yaks to hunt, I came to the realization that quest operations in Age of Conan were to be so moronically obvious to even the most illiterate of person that they were insulting my intelligence.

To quote an “Uphill, both ways” sort of remark, I recall in Star Wars Galaxies spending literally DAYS searching the extent of the southern hemisphere of Tatooine for some mutant womp rat or whatever. You would think that migrating yaks would, well, migrate, corrupted or not. But alas; they were content to mill about in circles like cooperative targets, with no reason for being wherever they were but to provide momentary entertainment for random quest holders. Surely we can do better than that!

Cooperative Targets Don’t they have anything better to do but mill around smartly waiting for some random player to come along and kill them? I mean, really now. Technology has come a long way even in the last 10 years. MMO design is still stuck in the rut of “Go to place X and kill N Y’s that you find there.” Wither Interactive Fiction and good creative writing skills.
